Super Full Moon

I captured this a little after midnight, which wasn’t as close to perigee as it was at sunset, but still figured I should try to get a shot of the moon tonight. It’s 356,577 km away. I used my 70-300mm lens (and have my tripod out on loan), so not the best set up, but it is what it is. Here is a larger version for your desktop, if you want it. Tony Hawk Hits Up Knoxville

I’ve been following Tony Hawk on twitter for a while, but I was surprised to see his tweet earlier this afternoon that he was hitting up Knoxville as part of his birdhouse promotional tour. Immediately after work, I decided to fetch my camera and girlfriend and head down to the Knoxville Skate Park. Sure enough, Mr. Hawk was there skatin’ it up. How cool that he would visit my hometown like that. Evidently, he enjoyed it too!

Hawaii 2009

I was privileged to have the opportunity to visit the island of Oahu this October. My girlfriend, Lacey, was in the middle of spending a couple months at a Baptist Camp ( located on the west side of the island. She volunteered at the camp, doing anything from painting, laundry, to preparing meals for the campers. In exchange for some work, she was able to stay at the camp free of charge, and score some free meals here and there. Sweet deal! When I went to visit for two weeks, I was able to help the camp develop a more modern website. It was a fun way to keep costs down, learn new things, and get to spend time in Hawaii!
